15 kms of New Trails Near Collingwood
The need to get outdoors has never been greater and getting outside safely is a must for our physical and mental health. This winter Duntroon Highlands Golf is helping people get outside by opening more than 15 kms of new epic snowshoeing trails near Collingwood.
The Collingwood area has long been recognized as one of the best places for snowshoeing in Southern Ontario. However, as travel outside the province is limited this year and people look to spend their outdoor time locally, crowded trails and equipment shortages may be an issue. That is why Duntroon Highlands is offering snowshoers controlled access to incredible combination of gently rolling trails on wide-open spaces in and across the Duntroon Highlands golf course, meandering paths through the hardwood forest as well as breathtaking views.
COVID-Safe Snowshoeing
To make the experience as safe as possible, Duntroon Highlands is introducing its ‘PlaySafe” system that lets snowshoe groups book for four people in advance of their arrival. Bookings will be taken in 10 minute intervals in order to control numbers in the clubhouse as well as the total number of people snowshoeing at any given time. Each group will have the chance to check in at the ‘Snow’ Shop, get fitted for rentals if needed, enjoy our special takeout beverages and snacks by the crackling fire and then head out on one of our many trails.
“The great thing is that with the PlaySafe booking system is that guests are guaranteed access to the trails without arriving to find the gates closed due to capacity limitations,” commented General Manager, John Marshall. “With so many different trails our guests could hike for hours without coming upon other snowshoers. Add to that great snow conditions and the diverse terrain and you have a truly special snowshoe experience.”
EPIC SNOWSHOEING TRAILS
There are four different snowshoe loops that can be accessed directly from the Clubhouse, ranging in length from 1 to 1.5 km. This includes the Waterfall Trail, The Maze, Escarpment Loop and the epic Horizon Hike, featuring a spectacular view of South Georgian Bay. Plus guests can get access to the incredible network of Upper Trails located on top of the escarpment and connect with the Highlands Nordic network. In total Duntroon Highlands gives access to more than 15 kms of managed snowshoe trails.
