At Duntroon Highlands Golf, 2024 has been a year of transformation, with extensive improvements made across the course and facilities to enhance the experience for all visitors. Each update reflects a commitment to quality and a dedication to preserving and enhancing the beauty of this iconic South Georgian Bay course.
Tees, Greens & Bunkers
Several holes received specific improvements as well.
- > The #11 green was drilled and filled
- > The #12 tee underwent extensive upgrades, including the removal of diseased trees, new sod, a relocated hole sign, and a new stone staircase, giving left and right handed players more options.
- > Similar efforts on the #6 tee, where old shrubs and trees were removed to improve airflow, have resulted in a more open and inviting space.
- > On #10 green, a new berm and sod have created a more playable approach area and reduced washouts on the green during heavy rains.
- > Resurfacing tees on holes #14 and #18
- > Bunkers on holes #2, #3, and #5 have been filled with fresh sand, and a berm added to #18 to improve water runoff.
Clubhouse
The most visible improvements begin in the clubhouse, where new flooring and a remodeled pro shop desk provide a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The café now boasts black fluting on the half wall, repainted walls and baseboards, and upgraded lighting, creating a warm, contemporary feel. Additionally, the addition of new doors on the pro shop office and kitchen enhances both style and functionality.
Other Important Enhancements
Outdoor enhancements are also widespread:
> Renovating the pump house for better airflow and greater pump reliability
> Improving the aesthetics of the creek flowing from the #11 pond, and reworking the #10 and #11 tee areas.
> With new trees on the north side of #18, the club has also launched its Celebration Tree program.
> A new compound was created in the backshop area, while hardscaping around the pickleball courts has been completed, adding to the aesthetic appeal.
On the patio, a new wall and fresh coat of paint have revitalized this popular space.
> Improved signage now graces the parking lot and driving range decks, making navigation easier, while new driving mats add to the quality of practice sessions.
> Clearing brush along the out-of-bounds fence on #15, continues to enhance the course’s natural beauty.
